Breeder Terms
Our breeders term program allows the fostering out of one of our Dobermans to a person with the eventual goal of permanent adoption of the dog to that person/family. The kennel will retain full ownership of the dog until such time that all terms of the breeding terms are met after which the kennel will transfer ownership to the foster family. This allows us to give our dogs the best lives with a loving family whilst still ensuring we have access to a diverse gene pool for our breeding program.
To qualify for this program you must be thoroughly vetted. You must meet ALL of the following requirements:
- You must live within 500 miles of the kennel for a female and 150 miles for a male.
- You must own your home or have a multi year lease and provide permission from your landlord to not only own a dog but SPECIFICALLY a Doberman.
- The address on your drivers license MUST be the same address you live at.
- You must also have lived at that address for at least 2 years.
- Have no liens, judgements, or other credit actions against you.
- Have no criminal record.
- Be at least 21 years old.
You will be fostering one of future breeding dogs, you will chose the dog from those we have offered on Breeders Terms. You will be responsible for all standard vet care like shots, preventative care, and treatment of illness/injury and food/toy/equipment cost for the dog during the fostering period. The kennel is responsible for all health testing costs. You will be required to take the dog to a vet of our choosing for health testing. We will find a vet in your area to work with for any health testing but you must be willing and able to take the dog to health testing appointments up to 1 hour from your address. The contract will forbid you from selling, rehoming, altering, or putting down the dog as its legal ownership will be with us. Between the age of 18 months and 48 months of age you will be required to return the dog to the kennel to be bred this will take 3-5 days if a female or to be used a stud repeatedly if a male. Once called to stud a male will need to return to the kennel for 3-5 days over a period of 12 months. Females may return home after being bred and then the foster family will decide if they wish to raise the litter themselves or if they wish to drop the dog off to the kennel 14 days before her due date so we can raise the puppies. If dropped off the female will remain at the kennel for up to 12 weeks until all pups have been weaned. If the foster family has elected to raise the litter themselves the kennel will provide puppy food for the dam and litter as well as puppy pads. The puppies will be returned to the kennel at 8 weeks old. After raising the litter the breeders term female will be altered, at our expense, and ownership be transferred to the foster family. All offspring are kept by the kennel. Males are neutered after their studding period and ownership will go to the foster family.
