Doberman Puppy Purchase Information

Please Note:
In order to ensure the best possible start for our puppies and peace of mind for our families, we kindly require a signed contract before any puppy goes home. This agreement outlines the health guarantees and benefits included with your purchase, while also providing important protections for the puppy’s future.

Our contract is a standard part of the adoption process for everyone and is not optional. If you’re not comfortable signing a contract, we understand and encourage you to explore other breeders who may be a better fit for your needs.

We truly appreciate your understanding and support in helping us prioritize the long-term well-being of our dogs.

The main points of this contract are outlined below so please read this page fully.

The first step in our puppy placement process is to complete a short application form. This form is required for all prospective buyers and cannot be bypassed via phone calls, texts, or messages. It’s a key part of our commitment to ensuring that each puppy is matched with a home where they’ll thrive.

The form takes just 5–10 minutes to complete and helps us understand your lifestyle, expectations, and what you’re looking for in a dog. That way, we can determine whether one of our Dobermans, who come from strong working lines, is the right fit for you. Our goal is to set both you and your future puppy up for long-term success and happiness.

All of our puppies go home up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations. At 8 weeks old, this includes two combination vaccines that protect against parvo, distemper, and leptospirosis.

In addition, each puppy is backed by a comprehensive 5-year congenital health guarantee covering hips, heart, spine, and more from their wet little noses to their wiggly tail nubs. This guarantee reflects our commitment to breeding for sound health and giving families confidence in the lifelong well-being of their new companion.

Confident, Well-Rounded Puppies Raised with Purpose
Our puppies are thoughtfully raised to build confidence, resilience, and a strong foundation for their future roles as companions or working dogs. From an early age, they’re gently introduced to a variety of experiences—including different surfaces, inclines, loud noises, car rides, crate time, leashes, collars, other dogs, cats, and even livestock. This careful exposure helps ensure a smoother transition into your home and sets the stage for a calm, well-adjusted Doberman.

All puppies are AKC registered, microchipped, and receive a full veterinary evaluation before going home. Tail dockings and ear crops (if elected) are performed by a licensed veterinarian. We do offer waitlist families the option to decline ear cropping and/or tail docking based on personal preference, though pricing remains the same regardless of these choices.

Each puppy goes home with a free 30-day pet health insurance trial from either Trupanion or AKC, adding an extra layer of protection during your initial transition.

Beyond our 5-year health guarantee, GuardianKin Dobermans are backed by additional lifelong support including:

  • A lifetime emergency boarding plan

  • A lifetime return policy

  • The only longevity guarantee offered by a Doberman breeder in the United States

  • And for working homes, a working aptitude guarantee to provide added peace of mind

You can read more about these benefits and guarantees below we’re proud to stand behind our dogs and the families who love them.

Full Euro

Full European means that we have not mixed American lines into the lineage. These dogs will have slightly blockier heads and be more stocky than pure American lines. They are generally also more protective and make better working dog candidates for most jobs. They are very high energy, whiney, and tend to be more intense then American lines. These dogs will generally only come in black or red.

Pricing: $4500

Euro/American Hybrid

This is a careful mix of Euro lines with American lines to create a slightly leaner dog with less intense overall temperament. These dogs tend to make excellent service dog candidates. These dogs are can be all 4 standard colors as well as off standard colors. The overall % of Euro in the line can influence the working ability as well as the look of the dog with higher % dogs being almost indistinguishable physically from pure Euro lines.

Our Breeding Program Focus

  • Form is the overall shape and size of the dog. Ideally we breed for the larger end of the breed standard 26-28″ and weight 75-100 lbs. We breed for a functional form and avoid hypertypes like barrel chest or oversized heads.
  • Diversity, to us, is avoiding inbreeding as much as possible. We do not practice line breeding. We do not cross parents to offspring or grand offspring. We routinely add new bloodlines to our program.
  • Temperament should not be confused with working aptitude. Temperament is the dogs overall personality and the way they react to the world around them. We want dogs that are predictable and stable in all situations.
  • Working Aptitude is the dogs willingness to work. There are different kinds of working for a Doberman and with different pairings we may have different goals for what we are looking for with their working aptitude. We want to produce handler focused dogs with the willingness to defend.
  • Health should be the foundation of any Breeder and we are expanding our health testing with each litter. Genetic testing, grading of hips, elbows, eye testing, thyroid testing, echos, routine holter testing, and tracking our puppies as they age all assist us in improving the next generation.

Every Puppy Includes:

Vaccinations:
Your puppy will go home with two rounds of core vaccines by 8 weeks old, covering parvo, distemper, parainfluenza, adenovirus, and four strains of leptospirosis. If your puppy stays with us past 8 weeks, they’ll receive a third round at 12 weeks and their rabies vaccine at 16 weeks. We consider puppies fully vaccinated after their third round.

Microchipping:
Every puppy is microchipped at 6 weeks with a Fi Nano chip a smaller, more comfortable chip that’s easy to scan and includes free lifetime registration for you. Microchipping is one of the safest, most reliable ways to recover a lost dog or prove ownership in a dispute.

AKC Registration:
All puppies are AKC registered and we pre-pay the registration, so all you have to do is fill out the form and hit submit no extra cost to you.

Free Pet Insurance:
Enjoy 30 days of free pet health insurance through Trupanion or AKC. It’s quick to activate and adds peace of mind during those early weeks.

Ear Cropping & Tail Docking:
Unless otherwise requested, puppies come with tails docked, dewclaws removed, and ears cropped by a licensed veterinarian. We use a medium working crop that stands easily with minimal posting (usually 4–8 weeks). If you prefer to skip cropping or docking, just let us know though pricing remains the same. We do not offer long show crops or military crops.

Emergency Boarding (14 Days Free):
If you face a crisis like a death in the family, loss of housing, or medical emergency we will board your GuardianKin Doberman for free for up to 14 days to give you time to recover or regroup.

Lifetime Return Policy:
We don’t allow our dogs to be rehomed or sold. If you ever find yourself unable to care for your GuardianKin Doberman, you can return them to us no questions asked, no matter the reason or the dog’s age.

Incentives:
We offer rewards for responsible ownership including cash incentives for altering your dog or earning titles in training, sports, or work.

Health Guarantee (5 Years):
We provide a 5-year congenital health guarantee covering major genetic conditions (heart, spine, nerve, blood, etc.). If your dog is diagnosed with a qualifying issue, we’ll replace them with a new puppy.

Longevity Guarantee:
We’re committed to restoring the Doberman’s original lifespan. If your GuardianKin Doberman does not live to at least 10 years of age, you’ll receive a 50% discount on your next puppy.

Working Aptitude Guarantee:
If we place a dog with you specifically for a working role and they can’t fulfill that role due to temperament or health reasons, we’ll offer a replacement (restrictions apply).

What We Expect From You

When you take home a GuardianKin Doberman, you’re not just buying a puppy you’re entering into a lifelong partnership with us and a long-term commitment to your dog. These expectations are in place to ensure our dogs live safe, healthy, and fulfilling lives, and that we can continue breeding with health and longevity in mind.

Here’s what we ask of every GuardianKin home:

Annual Veterinary Care

Your dog should visit a licensed veterinarian at least once per year for a full physical exam. Early detection of potential issues can dramatically improve long-term outcomes and keep your dog healthier, longer.

Vaccinations & Heartworm Prevention

We require that your dog remain up-to-date on core vaccinations, including leptospirosis, parvovirus, distemper, and rabies, according to your vet’s recommended schedule. In addition, your dog must be kept on a consistent heartworm prevention plan for life. Heartworm disease is entirely preventable but can be fatal if left untreated.

Echocardiogram by Age 4

All GuardianKin Dobermans must have an echocardiogram (heart ultrasound) performed by a licensed veterinarian by the time they turn 4 years old. A copy of the report must be provided to us. This helps us track the long-term heart health of our lines and contributes to improving the breed’s future.

AKC & Microchip Registration

We prepay your puppy’s AKC registration, so all you need to do is submit the online form.

You are also required to register your puppy’s microchip and keep your contact information current. This is the best chance your dog has of making it home if they’re ever lost or stolen.

Obedience Training by Age 1

All GuardianKin puppies must complete basic obedience training by their first birthday. At a minimum, your dog should reliably understand and perform:

  • Sit

  • Down

  • Stay

  • Walk calmly on a leash

Dobermans are intelligent, powerful dogs. Early training sets them (and you) up for a successful life together.

Basic Care & Humane Treatment

We expect our dogs to be treated as cherished family members, with the following minimum standards of care:

  • Access to clean, fresh water at all times

  • A nutritious diet that keeps your dog at a healthy weight

  • Regular exercise and enrichment appropriate to their age and ability

  • Primarily indoor living, with secure, shaded, and weather-protected outdoor time

  • Clean and safe housing Dobermans are not suited to being chained, isolated, or neglected

Yearly Updates & Contact Info

We love staying in touch! We require a brief update at least once per year about how your GuardianKin Doberman is doing. This helps us track how our dogs age, adjust breeding decisions, and cheer you on in your journey.
We also require that you notify us if your phone number, address, or email changes, so we can contact you in the event of any health updates or breed-related issues.

These expectations aren’t here to make things difficult they’re here to safeguard your dog, preserve the integrity of our program, and contribute to the future of the Doberman breed as a whole. Every requirement we have is based on years of experience, research, and a deep love for the dogs we raise. We’ve poured time, energy, and heart into producing stable, healthy, and capable companions, and we want to see them thrive in homes that value that same standard of care.

When you bring home a GuardianKin Doberman, you’re not just getting a puppy you’re becoming part of our extended family. We don’t disappear after the sale. Whether you need training tips, help navigating a medical question, or just want to share photos and brag a little (please do!), we’re here for you. You’ll always have access to our guidance and support for the lifetime of your dog and beyond if you stay in our circle.

At GuardianKin, we’re not just trying to sell you a dog. We’re trying to build something better a community of committed owners who care about their dogs as much as we do, and who want to be part of something more meaningful than a transaction. If that speaks to you, then we’d love to welcome you into the GuardianKin family.
